South Somerset residents help shape the future of the census

South Somerset has been specially selected as part of a large scale test of the census, run by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

This is an exciting opportunity for local residents to help shape the census which will happen in 2021. Test day is 9 April 2017.

Man cut free from overturned car after crash near A303 in Penselwood near Wincanton

Fire crews cut a man free from his car in Penselwood, near Wincanton, and he was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

driver was left trapped in his car after it crashed into a fence and flipped over.

Two fire engines – one from Wincanton, Somerset, and one from Mere, Wiltshire – were sent to help after a crash was reported…

Warning to Pet Owners

Our Vizslas Ruby and Bert are happily recovering from ingesting a large quantity of slug pellets spread round a badger path adjacent to Pits Farm in Pear Ash Lane Penselwood on Thursday 15th December.

The location of the slug pellets is indicated on the map below by the red kite mark and the foot path runs from Pear Ash Lane adjacent to Pits Farm south exiting in Chapel Lane. The exact location of the pellets is in the hedgerow which runs alongside the foot path on Pits…

Indigo Blue Christmas Party

Well what another fantastic Indigo Blue Christmas party we had such a fab time. Thank you to all who attended. But mainly a huge thank you to Dick & Rita on the bar, Rick on parking and for all his help before and after, the chip van and all of you who came, danced, drank, sang, played air guitar and made the night such a great party!

Following the article in the September Pen Paper, I am pleased to confirm that we have over 30 households who have registered their interest with Wessex Internet.  Wessex are currently looking at the most cost effective way of getting their infrastructure to us.

The intention is to connect up to the areas of the village with the slowest speeds first; starting with the area around the Church and then expanding to Pear Ash Lane and Underhill.
