MAYDAY! MAYDAY! SLEEPING DORMOUSE!

On a lovely recent May morning I happened to glance out of the bedroom window and saw a strange little creature on the bird feeder hanging from a nearby tree.   I opened the French windows, walked out and saw immediately that the tiny beast was covered with peachy-coloured fur, including its tail.  It was a dormouse.

I quickly fetched my camera and took some photos.  When I looked again some time later it had climbed back down and was busily eating the peanuts.    Twenty minutes later…

Have you lost....a little black dog?

I've had a call to say a little black dog followed a jogger all the way to the pub at Stourhead. The jogger has left her number at the pub and taken the dog home to Wincanton rather than leave it roaming.

Call the Spread Eagle 01747 840587 if it's yours.

CALL MY BLUFF

Larry Skeats and friends gave us a fun evening and some very credible descriptions of some unlikely objects.  It raised over £300 of which about £250 is for church funds.

Thank you to Charles and Ros for organising a good evening out, which also raised money.

Pen Paper - Reminder for contributions

The June issue of The Pen Paper is due to be published and distributed by the end of May. This is a community newspaper so take the opportunity to communicate with other residents what has been happening in your club, committee and hamlet along with any pictures to illustrate. Also use it to advertise events and meeting coming up in the next 3 months. Consider what might be of interest for others to read. If you have ideas for what else might be…

Village Hall AGM 15 April at 7:30pm

Hiring rates are very reasonable.

Given the age of the hall our biggest management problem continues to be maintenance and improvements of which we now have a list of 28 things to do. Here are some examples:… Continue
