I have been on the phone for nearly 3 hours today with my broadband supplier trying to sort out the issue of my broadband.i am with sky who have informed me fibre optic is now available in the village but where you live in the village depends on the speeds you can have.where I live they can only offer between 3mg-8mb fibre optic speeds which is no faster than the broadband connect I am currently on.however I have signed up to change in 14 days to the fibre optic as it is cheaper and there is no traffic..on my current broadband apparently because of the area we are in they have to pay a rental charge so it costs more and the speeds slow down at certain times of day.with the fibre optic even though they cannot offer the fast speeds offered closer to the exchange they can still offer cheaper unlimited fibre optic with no slow down of speeds at peak times.obviously where we are in the village is a lot further than people that live closer to bourton etc..so I think those who love further into the village will be able to get even faster fibre optic speeds.probably worth speaking to broadband suppliers see what they say.sorry for waffling a bit.hope that helps

Check out my Ookla Speedtest result. What's your speed? http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1707063349
A truly magnificent 1.8Mbps at 1530 today!

In case others are not aware, I received an e-mail from BT a week or two ago notifying me that the Bourton exchange had been upgraded and I should be getting a faster broadband. I ran a speed check on speedtest.net and found that I was now getting a download speed of 12 mb/sec as against 6 mbs previously. It may be worthwhile for others to check their speeds.
