This morning I walked my dogs through the village, between Underhill and Long Lane I picked up over 30 bottles which were strewn along the roadside. I appreciate that some may have been blown out of the recycling vehicle but not all and especially not along Long Lane.
I have lived in the village for nearly four years and I have noticed that the litter problem is getting worse. Litter I know is a problem everywhere but Pen Selwood is our bit of England let us all try and keep it…Continue

We had a very successful dog friendly walk on Saturday 5th April - a good length (1.5 hours) and a good route; here are the happy walkers back at the church.

It was a cold but sunny day when a large group from the village had a Walk and Talk around Moldram's Ground given by Rachael Whaites, the Countryside Ranger. We learned about the endangered species seen there - dormice, barn owls, greater crested newts and slow worms.
We left with a much greater understanding of the nature on our own doorstep.…Continue

Be wary of phone callers targeting the elderly and enquiring if the householder suffers from arthritis. They will offer to visit you and demonstrate something that can help with the pain. A message from Neighbourhood Watch - please note there has been a rise in theft of fuel from fuel tanks on properties in the rural community in parts of Somerset. It is evident that some fuel tanks have not been secured. Please remind those with fuel tanks to check their security and to report all suspicious activity/vehicles to the police on 101.

Highways Winter Update 8.30am 23 Jan 2013
Rain preceding the snow yesterday afternoon meant we could not pretreat the network and had to wait for the snow to start to fall. Any salt put down in advance would have just washed off the highway. The timing could not have been worse as the heavy snow arrived at rush hour as people were trying to get home and as they got into difficulty it hampered the gritters…
