We had a visit from Wessex Water's Distribution Manager earlier, to let us know about their planned work which will start around 8am tomorrow morning (6th August).  They need to repair a major mains leak in a field off Underhill.  They have told us because they are using our meter access, but I don't think they were planning to inform anyone else. So I thought I'd share.

"Everyone's" water will be cut off for 10 - 15 minutes and, for 22 households, including ours, drinking water will then be provided by tanks (10,000 litres) placed on the Sycamore Tree triangle. They plan to use our connection to the mains on the triangle, [minus our water meter :) ] to supply water to our taps as normal during the work which they expect to conclude on Friday morning once the concrete protecting the repair has had time to harden.  The tanks will be monitored and topped up by tankers as will two reservoirs affected by the disruption to the mains.

They do not expect to close any roads.  Please note that heavy use of hoses for watering the garden etc will deplete the tanks rapidly!!  (I don't know which are the other 21 houses to be affected).  There should be someone from Wessex Water around the triangle most of the time apparently, if you have a concern.

Wessex Water must be running late, a couple of vehicles arrived about 10 minutes ago….
