On 21st March, Moldrams Ground volunteers and SSDC rangers had a lovely morning working together.

The first task was to plant a large number of Hazel saplings, generously funded by Geoff and Stella Parcell to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary! They were planted just inside the first entrance and will grow to maturity to provide a great habitat for the Hazel Dormouse, only discovered on the site last year. What a great idea!

To complement this super gift, we also placed a number of a new type of dormouse nest box consisting of a square tube with wooden base. Hopefully, the population will now begin to expand. The dormouse is one of the UK's most highly protected species
and only a licence holder may inspect these potential nest sites.

Some further work clearing fallen trees and repairing fences completed the day, followed by a very enjoyable cook up.

In fact it was our daughter Bronwyn and husband Andy, and son Chris and wife Sophie, who sponsored the saplings to acknowledge our 40 years of marital bliss!
