Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro to raise funds & awareness for Cardiac Risk in the Young because it's 10 years since we lost my brother Alex.

In January 2004 my sporty 17 year old brother Alex died suddenly and unexpectedly from suspected cardiac arrhythmia.  10 years on, my family would like to raise money and awareness for the charity 'Cardiac Risk in the Young' (C-R-Y) in his memory - I will be doing the leg work!

Alex loved a challenge, and to honour his sense of adventure I will be attempting to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro - at 5895m (19,340ft) - the world's tallest freestanding mountain and the only place on land where you can clearly see the curvature of the Earth!

The trek will take 8 days via the Rongai route, with high altitude being a major factor as to whether I reach the summit... I have paid for the trip myself so every penny donated will go directly to C-R-Y, I'm aiming for £1 for every metre of the ascent!

Please help me get to the top in the knowledge I'll be raising money to help this amazing charity that has supported my family along with so many others who have suffered a bereavement due to a young sudden cardiac death.  'Cardiac Risk in the Young' do so much, including offering subsidised ECG and Echocardiogram screening to all young people aged between 14 & 35, specialist bereavement counselling, and funding vital medical research.

Thank you so much, your support means such a lot,
