Even small-scale poultry keepers must currently keep their birds under cover. The restrictions will be eased in some areas after February 28.

We are still keeping our chicken housed similar to the link picture.  I phoned DEFRA after 28th and they confirmed we are in a low risk zone.  I told her how we are housing them. However, after talking to them it seemed as though nothing has changed.  I was thinking they would say they could be 'free range' again.   They suggested making a pen with a roof so l said that is exactly how l am keeping them now.

I am quite happy to keep them housed but get confused when l read how in the South West free range chicken have been allowed out of their barn.  Are other chicken lovers in Pen keeping theirs 'under cover' until we learn of a 'all clear'.
