EXTRACT FROM E MAIL TO ALL CUSTOMERS

With this relaxation comes the news that the Mobile Library is being scheduled to re-start on Tuesday 13th April 2021.  Please be aware that this could be subject to change given any changes to Government plans, or a surge in the number of covid cases in Somerset.

In addition, we are allowing browsing for your own books on board the vehicle, there will be no need to pre-order your books or for me to choose books for you straight from the shelves, you will be able to do this yourself!

However, we are not out of the woods yet. There will be some restrictions that will need to be maintained:

  • Only 1 customer or household at a time on board the vehicle for browsing. Exemptions will apply if you are supporting someone with caring needs
  • Masks to be worn inside the vehicle at all times, unless you are medically exempt from doing so.  We will reserve the right to see evidence of any exemption of mask wearing.
  • It is strongly requested that you continue to use the hand sanitiser provided before boarding the vehicle.
  • Any books you return must be placed, by you, into the box provided. These books will be quarantined for 3 days before being removed from your library account. Once the books have gone into the box, they must remain there.
  • Social distancing of 2 metres must be maintained at all times while you are on the vehicle.
  • You are requested to take as little time as possible in choosing your books, especially at busier stops where people may be required to queue outside the vehicle.

If you have reservations about coming on board the vehicle, then I can still take books off the shelves for you and issue them. It’s not a problem. I will continue to support you.

If you are continuing to ‘shield’ and not able to leave your home, you may like to access the Home Library Service whose volunteers are currently offering a book drop to customers.  To access this service please email

kirsty Jenssen kirsty.Jenssen@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk or ring 07920 250834.
