It was a cold but sunny day when a large group from the village had a Walk and Talk around Moldram's Ground given by Rachael Whaites, the Countryside Ranger. We learned about the endangered species seen there - dormice, barn owls, greater crested newts and slow worms.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
[RINGMASTER COMMUNITY MESSAGING - SOMERSET EAST - FN017 200213]
Be wary of phone callers targeting the elderly and enquiring if the householder suffers from arthritis. They will offer to visit you and demonstrate something that can help with the pain. A local female resident received such a call recently from a very plausible female caller which was then followed up by a male caller asking if the lady was on her own.
Please decline any visits…

A message from Neighbourhood Watch - please note there has been a rise in theft of fuel from fuel tanks on properties in the rural community in parts of Somerset. It is evident that some fuel tanks have not been secured. Please remind those with fuel tanks to check their security and to report all suspicious activity/vehicles to the police on 101.

Highways Winter Update 8.30am 23 Jan 2013
Rain preceding the snow yesterday afternoon meant we could not pretreat the network and had to wait for the snow to start to fall. Any salt put down in advance would have just washed off the highway. The timing could not have been worse as the heavy snow arrived at rush hour as people were trying to get home and as they got into difficulty it hampered the gritters…
