We've added a great resource, thanks to Bernard. http://explorer.geowessex.com takes you to maps of the area beyond Pen Selwood so you can find your way in Dorset and Wiltshire. It doesn't include all of the paths in Pen, but you can display it as a Street map. Cycle map or Ordnance survey map.

You'll find a link under Countryside > Footpaths down the bottom of the page when you need it next.

The second Sunday in August is a special date for local riders and dog owners. The Pen Selwood Horse & Dog Show was a great success this year. We were blessed with a lovely day, not too warm or too cold.

The entries were up on last year, particularly for the dogs.

Two of our charities were present with stands, Horseworld from Bristol and Greyhound Rescue West…

The preliminary estimate of takings for yesterday is a magnificent £4,381; it is really good to have raised so much for the Church, the Hall and the Field, despite the untimely downpour.  A really big thank you to all those who worked so hard to achieve this and to all those who came and spent the money.

A number of incidents have occurred over recent days where unsolicited telephone calls have been made to members of the public. These calls allege to be from a security company and the suggestion is that the police are aware of crime prevention surveys taking place by the company in the area. Did you know that we have 11.5 miles of footpaths and bridleways within the Parish of Pen Selwood, plus of course the many miles of permissive paths on land owned by the Hoare family and Sir Cameron Mackintosh ? If you look on the Pen Selwood web site you will find suggested walks with a clear map which you can print, the mileage of each walk is also shown.
