The treasurer's report for the fete says: The results are again marvellous. Once again the White Elephant has achieved the record as an individual stall and was the major contributor to the record result.
Expenses are also higher by £367, in part because of the costs of the beer tent (£267) (though these include stock of £100 of plastic glasses which will be used in future years) and in part due to increased insurance costs (£50) and tent hire (£60).

Sometime on Saturday at the fete I lost a gold earring. Here is a photo of its partner. It could be anywhere as I went everywhere except the car park.

Pen Selwood 2014 fete

Last week I volunteered to help Hester and Richard repair and replace a pair of stiles as part of their maintenance programme of the footpaths around Pen. I can recommend it to others as fun, sociable, fresh air and great views. Somerset County Council has reorganised the mobile library service reducing the routes from 5 to 4.
From and including Tuesday 23rd September, the library will be in Queens Grove from 9:30 to 9:40 and then every four weeks after that. They are included in Events.
The driver will change and let us hope that the new one will be as pleasant and helpful.

We had an excellent walk looking for dragonflies and found 10 species (beautiful demoiselle, banded demoiselle, white legged damselfly, azure damselfly, common blue damselfly, blue tailed damselfly, emperor dragonfly, golden-ringed dragonfly, black-tailed skimmer and a common darter) - and we saw the last two sets of the Wimbledon finals.

You are invited to the bell ringing open evening on Monday evening 30th June (see the events section). This should be fun but don't expect anything like this!
