Planning Policy

The Parish Council has posted a copy of our new Planning Policy Document for Pen Selwood on the website (go to the Parish Council tab and then Planning.) The document was first issued in October 2011 and sent to all the relevant agencies within the District and County Council.



That original document has now been amended to take into account the findings of the Village Community Plan and the South Somerset draft core strategy for the area. It is, we believe, consistent with the wishes… Continue

Moldrams Ground Report

On 21st March, Moldrams Ground volunteers and SSDC rangers had a lovely morning working together. 

The first task was to plant a large number of Hazel saplings, generously funded by Geoff and Stella Parcell to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary! They were planted just inside the first entrance and will grow to maturity to provide a great habitat for the Hazel Dormouse, only discovered on the site last year. What a great idea!…

Somerset Levels Relief Fund - Royal Bath and West Society

 John Osman, Leader of Somerset County Council is supporting The Royal Bath and West Society who have set up a relief fund to assist Somerset residents whose homes and businesses have been flooded over the last two months. Cllr Osman asks if your council could please consider making a donation to the fund which will help start other flood preventative measures.

Possible traffic disruption in Underhill

Wincanton Post Office is being modernised

They are creating an open plan environment, with longer opening hours (over lunch too).  Once the work is finished it will be open continuously from 09:00 till 17:30 every day except Sunday.

It will however be closed from Thursday 20th Feb reopening at 13:00 on Friday 28th Feb.

Nearest alternative Post Offices can be found at Bourton and Gillingham while the work is being done.

Since August we have been collecting statistics on the use of this website to help us improve it. On average more than 200 pages are viewed every week. In a typical month there are 150 unique visitors to the site (not all from the village), they look at an average of 5 pages each visit and stay for 3 minutes.

News and Events are the most viewed, and some people never get beyond the first page they enter, but 72% go from  the opening page to another page.

Moldrams Ground Tree Clearance Morning

SSDC Rangers and volunteers alike had a great morning on Fri 24th, clearing a huge fallen larch that was blocking one of the main pathways through the reserve. The recent gales had caused at least 8 trees to fall, but none had caused any serious problems apart from the one massive larch and a smaller ivy-covered tree that had collapsed across the fencing into the top field.…

Winter Films at Bourton Village Hall

New season of films  starting  in January 

Come and join us, bring your friends for some very enjoyable film & social evenings

Tickets only £5   available from Bourton Forge Garage, Zeals Garage, Nick Hall & Harriet Palmer.

The films  all start at 7:30pm.  We run a bar with light nibbles.

DISRUPTION OF TRAFFIC ON THE UNDERHILL ROAD - 7TH TO 9TH JAN POSTPONED TILL MID FEBRUARY
