"Try Bell Ringing" evening

Have you ever wondered how the glorious, traditional sounds of church bells are generated for weddings, funerals, regular church services and special occasions? Please come along to our beautiful church and find out at our "Try Bell Ringing"…

The Balsam Centre (the trading name of Wincanton Community Venture) is having special fund raising  for badly needed mental health support for young people.  This lasts till 28th May.  The first £5000 is matched on BigGive, effectively doubling donations.  Details are at https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a056900002SEW3iAAH which shows how to give.

On Saturday afternoon, Pen will host the final of the Diocesan six bell striking competition.  Six bands from all over the diocese will compete and we should hear some of the finest ringing for a long time.

The competition will start at 1:45 and take about two hours.

Each band is allowed a two minute timed practice.  After that the treble rings to signal to the judges that they are about to start.  They ring some rounds, a set piece of 120 changes, some more rounds and then…

The open evening planned for Monday 12th July has to be postponed as we cannot start ringing again yet. We will set a new date when Covid regulations permit.
