On Thursday we heard the sad news of the death of our monarch – Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Here is a prayer for personal use. God of love, We thank you for the life of The Queen, for her service to our nation, and for her faith in you. Be close to all of us who mourn, that we may find comfort and hope in your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

As a result we have altered our plans significantly for worship and activities this weekend. On Saturday we will mark the Accession of His Majesty King Charles III to our throne. In accordance with the national protocol we will raise the flag to full-mast until Sunday at 1pm. At that point it will be lowered back to half-mast in accordance with the time of mourning. Please do explain this to anyone who comments to you.

There is a also a prayer focus for the Queen and book of condolence in the church in Pen Selwood, which is open as usual.

On Sunday at 9am we will have a special Commemoration Service marking the Death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at St Michael’s Church, Pen Selwood. This will be followed with a time of fellowship over coffee so we can support one another in our grief.
