We are fortunate to be able to use the woods around our homes. The Stourhead Western Estate allows us to use permissive paths through the woods. Permits are needed to ride in the woods and Nick Hoare asked us not to come to the estate with a horse box or cycle carrier at present. He has asked that those using the woods obey the spirit and the letter of the Government restrictions on activity in public.

today we parked the car just passed pen ridge house on the right hand side of the road  to walk the dogs in the woods on a circular walk . Somerset County Council have advised that the GREEN bin collection service has been suspended until further notice.

This month's Village Walk went well despite the Corona Virus.  We all kept 6 feet apart.

We may try another walk in a couple of weeks time depending on Government advice/legislation.

There is now a new Facebook Group for those on Facebook who would like to share pictures, thoughts or ideas with others in the village.

We want to assure you that the church community remembers and prays for those who are in any kind of need.

St Michael's Church, Pen Selwood

For reasons that need no further spelling out, the VE Party to be held on May 8th and which was advertised in the current Pen Paper, has been cancelled.

A lively crowd turned out for the village litter pick on the 14th of March. Fortunately we had lovely weather and retrieved quite a large amount of rubbish from the hedgerows and lanes. The worst area by far was the approach road into the village from the old A303 leading up to Underhill but in general there…

Due to the latest Corona Virus advice the walk at Barford St Martin has been cancelled.

However, since exercise is still recommended it should be OK to walk, so long as we all keep 6 feet apart.

There will therefore be a group of us meeting outside the Village Hall at 10:30am on Monday for an impromptu unplanned walk.

In the light of the latest government recommendations I am sorry to say that the Black Bin Café is now closed until such official advice changes.
