We are fortunate to be able to use the woods around our homes. The Stourhead Western Estate allows us to use permissive paths through the woods. Permits are needed to ride in the woods and Nick Hoare asked us not to come to the estate with a horse box or cycle carrier at present. He has asked that those using the woods obey the spirit and the letter of the Government restrictions on activity in public.
Whether your daily form of exercise is walking, running, riding or cycling, please remember that this is supposed to be near your home. Both Somerset and Avon and Wiltshire police forces will issue warning notices and have the authority to demand on the spot fines if you do not.
Walkers, riders and cyclists should make sure that they and their animals do not get close to anyone that they meet in the woods.
Dogs are not allowed when cycling or horse riding. This has always been a rule for permit holders and the estate feels it is particularly important at present.
An over-friendly dog could pass the virus on even though it is not ill itself. Dog walkers please ensure your dogs keep their distance from others.
Wash your hands when you get home.
