I was told about this website (www.travelsomerset.co.uk) at the last Parish Council meeting.  It sounded useful so I took a look.  This is how they describe it:

This service by Somerset County Council aims to provide reliable and up-to-date information about roads across Somerset to help you make informed choices about your journey.
On this website you will find our map showing current and future roadworks as well as live updates on accidents and other incidents which may cause delays.
You will also find links to various other helpful travel information – from rail and buses, to walking and cycling.

Fair enough, it's everything they say, and you can even report potholes.  I quickly found I could get to Stur by bus from Bourton but asking to get from Wincanton to Pen Selwood it suggested getting a bus to Templecombe, a train to Salisbury, a bus to Zeals and then walk.  So some caution advised.  In fairness it also suggested the CAT bus.  Did you know Community transport may be free if you need to go for a Covid jab.
