A conversation with James Long about Ferney

On Wednesday 29 January 2025 at 7:30pm in the Village Hall, James Long, the author, will be visiting and talking to us about how he came to write  two novels based around Penselwood.

I know many of you will already have read either Ferney or The Lives She Left Behind and  I can heartily recommend both. Ferney is a timeslip novel predating The Time Traveller's Wife. When Mike and Gally Martin move to a cottage in Penselwood, it's to make a new start. But the relationship comes under strain when Gally forms an increasingly close attachment to an old countryman, Ferney, who seems to know everything about her.

James is about to write a third book and would like to hear ideas from us about what might be included.

Can you let me know if you plan to attend, and how many, so I can organise the chairs and layout?

Thanks
