Pen Selwood, situated just off the A303 near Wincanton, is offering a new, free way to entertain your youngsters during the village’s 64th Traditional Summer Fete. Children can try their hand at a variety of woodland crafts using locally sourced, natural materials including sticks, clay, wood, feathers. Look out for the teepee! The activities - suitable for children roughly 5 to 12 years of age, younger children can be assisted by their parents - include making a Power Wand even Hogwarts would be proud of, or maybe an Elder Bee or a Bird Badge. A toy stall and a dedicated Children’s Tombola will also appeal.
Other visitors to the Fete will find their usual favourites including Pen’s tasty Barbeque, Pen Pub offering locally sourced beers and ciders plus cakes, bottle tombola, Grand Draw, pre-loved clothing, books and plants and much more. Donations are already high for Pen Selwood’s famous White Elephant stalls - so bring a large bag to pop your bargains in!
Enjoy free entertainment, once again provided by local band Mustang Sally, after you’ve tested your skills on the Coconut Shy or Beat the Buzzer. Have a close look at some beautiful classic and vintage cars. Do be sure to wander over to St Michael’s to feast your eyes on the displays of Crafts, Flowers and Produce Show or enjoy a famous Village Tea in the Community Hall.
Parking is available in the adjacent field and the locations are close together. Last minute details can be found on penselwood.ning.com. Proceeds to St Michael’s Church and the Pen Selwood Community Association.
