Someone received a strange comment on their Comment Wall this morning, asking them to contact a josephmclaughlin via email.

The comment is spam.  If you have received something similar, ignore it. It can't do you or your computer any harm if you don't respond.

Unfortunately I let the culprit into the website under a different name. They have been banned.

Monarch's Way Oak - new tree update

Thank you all very much to those of you that have supported Eryl’s campaign for the village funding of a new ‘Royal’(?) Oak tree, to replace the original oak that sadly lost its existence due to Storm Eunice. It was a beautiful tree ~ clearly loved & admired by many.  It stood so proudly in our lower field which – rather ironically – we had named Oak Tree field on our arrival to Penselwood.…

Queen Elizabeth II 21st April 1926 – 8th September 2022

Many tributes have been paid following the sad loss of our longest reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II.

A monarch who was true to the promise she made on her 21st birthday in 1947             “I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all…

Queen Elizabeth II - Service

On Thursday we heard the sad news of the death of our monarch – Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Here is a prayer for personal use. God of love, We thank you for the life of The Queen, for her service to our nation, and for her faith in you. Be close to all of us who mourn, that we may find comfort and hope in your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

As a result we have altered our plans…

Beacon Bonfire

I would like to thank all those who attended our Beacon Bonfire and especially those who donated to RABI (The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution). A cheque for £250 has been forwarded.

To see so many people enjoying the special occasion for the Queen made the work on the bonfire worthwhile.

Ukrainian refugees

A meeting was held in the village hall for those interested in helping Ukrainian refugees. Several people were prepared to host refugees either for 6 months or more or for a couple of weeks holiday to give long term hosts a break.

It was recognised that the village without public transport or other amenities was not the obvious place for refugees to be placed and that it would be better if there was more than one family at a time so that they had the company of people speaking the…

BT halts removal of landline phones

BT has plans to remove copper wire fed landlines and replace them with fibre optic cables and digital phones by 2025. In the recent storms some people were unable to call 999 and health alarms and burglar alarms would not function. They have delayed the roll-out while they resolve these issues. Check with BT if you have concerns.…
