SUMMARY:THE SHOT THAT SHOOK THE WORLD
DESCRIPTION:– BOURTON VILLAGE HALL TUESDAY 18th MARCH 7.30pm\nOn 28
June 1914, Gavrilo Princip, a Serbian nationalist, assassinated Grand
Duke Ferdinand, heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and
his wife. In a supercharged atmosphere of competing empires, heated in
ternational politics and burgeoning nationalism, this was the catalyst
that put the powers onto an inescapable road leading to the Great War
. This presentation explores the underlying political and military cau
ses of the War which was to cost millions of lives and lead, inexorabl
y, to the Second World War.\n\nSo gentle readers, do come and join us
for a riveting evening. Bar open from 7pm, tickets from the usual –
Hat (840057), Nick (841386), Brian Martin 840433) and, of course, the
garages at Bourton and Zeals\n\nFor more information visit https://pen
