Did you know there is a History Society in Pen? Here are details of our next two meetings. If you are not already on the email list let me know if you are interested in coming along (Geoff 841216).

Our first indoor meeting of the season will be on Wed 5 October at Woodlands starting at 7:30pm

Jonathan Cox will introduce the topic of Saxon Britain. In addition I’ll give an update on the geophysical survey in the Beacon field. 

On Wed 2 Nov at Pen Mill Farm Peter Fitzgerald will get us to reflect on the Architecture in Wincanton and in particular the impact of Nathaniel Ireson - the man who transformed the centre of Wincanton following a great fire of 1707 which burned down most of the town centre.

Peter has recently published a book about Nathaniel Ireson and will no doubt be happy to sign copies for you.
