As always, youngsters are well catered for. Free throughout the afternoon is the chance for them to test their skills Circus-style. Their very own Children’s Tombola has already received generous donations, plus there’s a toy stall. New for 2023, look out for Face Painting! All ages can test their luck on the Coconut Shy and Traditional Games. Making a welcome return this year, after long break, will be live music during the afternoon from members of Gillingham’s Silver Band.

It is not unusual for a queue to start to build up 30 minutes before the Noon opening ceremony, so eager are regular Fete visitors to make a beeline for their favourite attractions - especially Pen’s famous White Elephant Stalls. These are sorted into various dedicated ‘shops’ to make your bargain hunting easy. The Pre-loved Clothing stall features both men’s and women’s good quality clothing plus accessories, so be sure to have a good browse. Bring your bags to fill with bargains - parking is available on the adjacent field, so stow your finds ready to enjoy the afternoon.

Enjoy something tasty from the Barbeque (vegetarian options available) fired up from noon together with something from the Beer Tent (Pen Pub takes card payments).... Choose from local draught ales, lagers, local cider, Pimms, Prosecco, wines and soft drinks. Alternatively, save yourself to enjoy the Pen’s famous Teas available from 12.30pm from the Village Hall. Enjoy delicious home-made sandwiches packed in picnic-friendly cartons to accompany the many home-baked treats on offer.

Your other favourites, such as Cakes, Grand Draw, Bottle Tombola, Plants & Produce, Books and more, will be there. Pen Selwood’s Flower, Produce and Craft Show runs in St Michael’s Church the same afternoon. Be sure to look at the variety and quality of items on display, demonstrating there is a wealth of talent tucked away in Pen...

The net proceeds of the Fete will be divided between St Michael's Church and the Pen Selwood Community Association.

Everything is organised and run by the villagers themselves, apart from the provision of the free entertainment for the children who attend ~ this year the chance to try as many different Circus Skills as they wish.

This year, Fete visitors will find the Pen Teas in a marquee located behind the Village Hall in the Churchyard. This is to provide better ventilation and spacing to keep everyone as safe as possible. From 12.30pm they will be open to serve tea, coffee and soft drinks to accompany your choice of cream tea or a delicious range of freshly baked cakes. Please note, to simplify the choice on offer this year, no sandwiches will be available. Apologies to our regulars, who will have to make do with something from the Barbeque on the Fete field and which will be serving from midday!

We look forward to serving you!
