Event Description

GONE GIRL Thriller Cert (18) 149 minutes

One of the most eagerly awaited cinema events of the year. The film of Gillian Flynn’s masterly novel (if you have not read it, do so immediately!) Whether or not you've read it, you're definitely in for a treat. David Fincher directs this unsettling thriller, which revolves around the hunt for missing Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike), the perfect blonde wife of perfect hunk Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck). When Amy disappears under suspicious circumstances, Nick appears distraught but is soon the prime suspect. Your sympathies and suspicions undergo a constant process of realignment as a twisted, he-said/she-said tale unfolds and Amy's diary entries reveal some home truths about their marriage. Or do they? Terrific stuff… with an ending specially written for the film by the author.

footnote from Phil Walkley - Moviola about the film Gone Girl

“ I have had one Moviola Partner asking anxiously about this film's content so I thought I would send you this further note. I have seen the film in full and can confirm that it is very much an adult film deserving of its (18) classification. It is very well made with excellent performances from Ben Affleck and our own Rosamund Pike. It has a smattering of bad language (in common with many of today's films), some explicit sex (though as ever toned down by Hollywood) and one very, very violent scene which involves a lot of blood. It is consistently interesting and thrilling, and the twist in the story had the audience gasping. (Especially those who had not read Gillian Flynn's superb novel.)
The ending - rewritten by the author- gives a different slant than the book but is very, very chilling. “
